NOT all the sites that were advertised as
locations for new homes lived up to that promise. This one, in one
corner of the car park at Morrison's supermarket in Nantwich, was
originally planned to be a four-storey block of 10 flats - as I revealed
here. That was in August 2007.
After the site stood empty for
a while, black hoardings were placed all round it. Were the flats being
built discretely behind it? Not at all. Eventually signs appeared on the
hoarding announcing the prospect of office accommodation of between 500
and 6,700 square feet, with lift access, secure parking and access to
Hospital Street.
But there didn't seem to be a
demand for offices either. In August 2010 the site is still untouched.
Whatever happened to the much heralded need for more housing?
