NANTWICH in Bloom committee members came home with a
double award after attending the annual North West in Bloom awards on Thursday,
October 20, at Southport Theatre and Convention centre - the second day of a two-day
event.
The town won gold in the Best Town
section and the Preston's of Bolton Plate for "The Best Town in the North West".
The guest of honour on the 20th was
Stephen Lowe, Lancashire Radio presenter and a landscape gardener, who presented
the awards.
Nantwich was nominated to represent the North West in the UK finals of the
Britain in Bloom competition in the Towns section.
At the awards ceremony, former Secretary Connie Jones was
presented with a cut-glass dish and bouquet of flowers in recognition of her 33
years' service to Nantwich in Bloom and North West in Bloom.
Other winners in the local area were: Best
Residential Home, Richmond Village, Nantwich (silver gilt medal); Best Large Village, Audlem (silver gilt medal); and Best Small Town, Willaston PC (silver medal).
