THE acquisition of the plot of land for a second
car park led to an extension of another asset at the Methodist Church
Centre.
The miniature train now takes the passengers
on a longer journey (above). Well, only another 20 to 30 yards, admittedly, but
it all adds to the fun.
The train journey used to
finish at a shed at the end of the track. But now the train emerges at a
second door at the back of the building and continues until the last coach reaches the boundary between the
church land and the car park on the Morrison's supermarket. |

The previous engine is pictured
(above) at that point.
There is no disembarkation at that end of the line and the train returns with its
passengers to the Hospital Street end of the track.
As well as an additional carriage
on the train (see here), there is a new
change in the offing. Work is now proceeding to create an extension to
the railway track along a piece of land at the edge of Morrision's and
opposite a row of cottages.

Nantwich scenes depicted in Susannah's
mural
THE mural, right, is by local artist,
Susannah Fishburne and was put in place in the summer of 2013.
It was
the idea of the former Church Minister, the Rev Malcolm Lorrimer, and was formally
"unveiled" by the then Crewe and Nantwich MP, Edward Timpson.
It depicts the Methodist
Church Centre (top left), black and white buildings in the town Square
(top right), Nantwich railway station (bottom left) and a steam engine
(bottom right).
It also includes (in the top right-hand corner) a
hot-air balloon which can sometimes be seen over Nantwich. |
